Amidst the fact that the Philippines is in a complicated relationship with China, Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano still seeks to bring more pressure to the Philippine government.

With the recent victory on the aforementioned lawmaker claim that the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was being too soft on China’s aggression due to the $24 billion loan pledges of Beijing to the Philippines, Alejano went too far by claiming that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ceased to patrol the West Pilippine Sea.

Alejano cited his trusted “military sources” that,

"I received information that the Duterte administration ordered our Armed Forces not to patrol West Philippine Sea anymore.”

"Ayun ang information na nakuha natin na 'wag na tayong magsayang ng oras sa West Philippine Sea kasi wala rin naman mangyayari. Gagastos tayo ng fuel diyan wala rin naman mangyayari... so 'wag na kayo mag-patrolya," Alejano expounded.

He then referred that such an order to stop patrolling the sea would be an impeachable action to commit.

"Isn't that an impeachable offsense already?" the representative asked.

When asked about hard evidence in order to support such a claim, Alejano only replied that,

"I'm confident with the information coming from my sources,"

Meanwhile Department of Defense Secretary Delfine Lorenzana simply denied that such an order was issued.

"There was no such order," Lorenzana said.

Alejano stated that even AFP officials were against such a cease order.

"Ang sabi ng Armed Force, 'Sandali muna that is our mandate. We will be remiss of our mandate to protect our sovereignty, territorial integrity if we do that,'" Alejano claimed.

Yet AFP spokesman Colonel Edgard Arevalo countered the claims and allegations of the congressman and stated that Alejano is maliciously accusing Duterte.

“I do not know where Cong. Alejano got that supposed instruction from the Commander-in-Chief. Malamang kuryenteng balita 'yan if not yet another malicious imputation on the President dragging the AFP in," the AFP spokesman stated.

He clarified that there was no order and as a matter of fact, the patrols won’t cease to continue.

“For the record, there is no such order coming from the Commander-in-Chief. As a matter of fact, our maritime and aerial patrols continue—contrary to such information allegedly received by the Party-list Congressman," Arevalo added.

The AFP colonel then ended stating,

"Let me assure our people that your AFP continues and will continue to perform its mandate”

A publicized mistake that may counter-argueably lead to the representative’s impeachment, let’s just hope that Duterte rains mercy on Alejano’s poor soul. For his sources have betrayed him and his “sense of nationalism” condemned the lawmaker.
