In a news release, the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) admitted their mistake and corrected their naming of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.

They unknowingly named him “Winston Gatchalian” by mistake and the Senator being an active social media entity, reprimanded the PCOO for it by opening his tweet by stating,

“May pagasa pa ba ang PCOO???”

He then narrated how the PCOO got wind of their mistake, through PhilStar broadcaster Arnold Clavio.  But was glad that the office admitted their error and were committed to fixing it.

It was a news release on Sen. Gatchalian’s platform on free online college education in which the PCOO made a mistake on naming the aforementioned senator.

The following tweets of the Senator goes as follows, starting wth:

“May pagasa pa ba ang PCOO???

Based on a report in PhilStar, broadcaster Arnold Clavio has informed PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar about the mistake on the news release. Andanar responded that it has already been corrected and they are making adjustments in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

According to Andanar, Usec. Marvin Gatpayat and Usec. Lorraine Badoy are the ones on top of the changes that will be made. A meeting with the team will be held.

Based on the report, the office also previously committed mistakes when it referred to Norway as ‘Norwegia’ and the late ex-national security adviser Roilo Golez as ‘Rogelio Golez’.

Through another Tweet on his social media account, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian expressed his gratitude to PCOO for acknowledging the error. According to him, he hopes and prays that it will be the last one.”

He then tweeted his hopes that this would be the final mistake and thanked the PCOO for admitting their mistake:

I hope (and pray) that this error will be the final one. Maraming salamat sa acknowledgment”

He then jestingly stated that the name error would be the name of his future child:

After everything has been said and done over the weekend, let's look at the positive side. At least alam ko na ipapangalan sa anak ko in the future - "Winston".”
