It was a wrong move on the part of ABS-CBN publicist Eric Salut to publicly shame the victory of Senator Manny Pacquiao against Lucas Matthysse for the Pacman’s loyal fans were quick to shut Salut down.

Salut has also been identified as a critic of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, and Pacquiao being a staunch ally, it may also be the motive behind the media publicist’s distasteful comments.

“Kung ipinatanggol nya ang Panginoon sa pambabalahura ni Duterte, magiging proud pa ako sa kanya! Ano’ng ginagawa nya? Wag ako!” Salut said.

He called out the boxer-senator as the stupidest and laziest senator around and for being mum on the issue of Duterte calling God as stupid.

Just as Salut brought his salacious comments on Twitter, so did Pacquiao’s allies retorted the media publicist through tweets.

Netizen @clyde_virtucio said, “anyways you’re not on his position to judge him as a senator and as a Christian especially as an athlete. Instead on focusing on things he have missed why don’t you just thank him enough for the Glory he has brought to the Philippines and also to God!”

“WOW. Manny as a public servant is a whole notha story! BUT You can’t change the fact that he brings honor to Philippines! he loves his countrymen, he helps the poor, he loves his family& most esp he honors GOD. kung bitter ka sa buhay mo at galit ka kay Du30 don’t take it out on PACMAN!” netizen @trinakinss tweeted.

The irony that other netizens called out was the fact that ABS-CBN, the very company Salut worked for, was raking in massive profit from airing the fight between Pacquiao and Matthysse.

Some Filipino boxing fans tweeted this at the peak of Salut’s insults:

Hey @ABSCBN next time wag nyo nang i broadcast yung laban ni Pacquiao kasi ayaw ni Salut 😂😂😂

Nakalimutan ni Salut na kumita ang employer (ABS CBN) nya kay Pacquiao.

Pacquiao has not commented on any of the verbal attacks from Salut.
