Miss Universe 2015 winner Pia Wurtzbach supports Miss Spain 2018 Angela Ponce joining the highly-regarded beauty pageant, Miss Universe, despite the issue being contested by several pageant fans and analysts because Ponce is a trans-woman.

For the former Miss Universe, you do not need to be a natural-born woman to compete and win in the grandest worldwide beauty pageant.

“It is allowed in Miss Universe. You can compete [and] you can win [as a trans woman],” Wurtzbach said in a media interview.

“You don’t have to be a natural born woman to win Miss Universe,” she emphasized.

As much as Wurtzbach supports the Miss Philippines 2018 winner Catrion Gray’s entry into Miss Universe, she also airs the same sentiments as Gray once it comes to Ponce’s qualifications.

Both bright and beautiful ladies are in favor of the Spanish trans woman’s representing her country in Miss Universe 2018 to be held in the Philippines on December this year.

Despite the controversy, Ponce finds it a dream come true to bring her country’s name onto the stage and send a message of inclusion for the world.

"Bringing the name and colors of Spain before the universe is my great dream," Ponce wrote in an Instagram post.

"My goal is to be a spokesperson for a message of inclusion, respect and diversity not only for the LGBTQ + community, but also for the entire world,” she added.
